“Bitch, I’m winning…”
You may have noticed by now that the MTV VMAs were hosted on Sunday—that’s the Video Music Awards, FYI.
Stars like Taylor Swift, Blackpink and Lizzo were present on the night with all three winning awards.
While Taylor won the awards for Best Video, Best Longform Video and Best Direction all very well Lizzo snatched up the award for Video for Good at night.
That said, she is no stranger to trolling and abusing. Just last month, American comedian Aerys Spears took a dig at Lizzo, commenting on her weight. Several body-shaming insults were made, including the highly unnecessary comment: “Her music is tough… but her body is not.”
On Monday night, during his acceptance speech, he addressed his comments for the first time. Clearly, he has some thoughts to share on the matter.
She said: “And now, for the bitches who have to say something about me in the press. You know what, I’m not going to say anything. They’re like, Why don’t you clap? Why don’t you clap back? Bitch ‘Cause I’m winning. I’m winning!”
In short, the star has decided not to waste energy addressing harsh criticism and instead focus on all the victories in her life – from the VMAs to the Grammys, to the BT Awards.
He is an internationally renowned artist who has proved that, while harsh comments can hurt, there is more to life than just letting you down.
She teaches a valuable lesson in how to redefine negative thoughts – it’s all too easy to get caught up in what others think of you, especially when you’re someone who is in the public eye. But watching the singer handle negativity with grace and self love is inspiring, to say the least.
Not to mention the fact that every body is different, and will look different, and that’s why it’s not a good idea to comment on someone’s weight so disrespectfully and publicly.
In other body-positive celebrity news, last week, Lili Reinhart opened up about why she slammed Kim Kardashian for her Met Gala weight loss and Kate Moss slammed her infamous “Nothing Looks As Good As Taste” Shared his logic behind the mantra. (Spoiler alert: it really wasn’t her).
We couldn’t have handled it better than ourselves. All Hail Queen Lizzo!
